Another good book on this subject is North Country: The Making of Minnesota by Mary Lethert Wingerd (2010). <br /><br />I just finished the book The Journey of Crazy Horse by Joseph M. Marshall III. It's a thoughtful and thought-provoking account of a mythologized period in Lakota history.
